How to Plan the Perfect Baby Shower

How to Plan the Perfect Baby Shower Planning a baby shower can be so much fun, from picking out the decorations to preparing the yummy food. There is a lot that goes into planning the perfect baby shower, and so it is important to stay calm and organized as to not forget any planning step. After all, it is a special day for the mom-to-be to remember forever. Take a look at some of the tips below on how to plan the perfect baby shower!

  1. Pick a Theme

While a theme is not always necessary, it does add to the overall atmosphere of the shower. You can keep it simple, such as a woodland animal or prince/princess theme, or you can go all out and do a royal theme or even a Star Wars theme (all depending on the mother’s interests, of course!). Do not dwell on the theme too much, just pick one and stick with it – everyone will have a good time no matter what.

  1. Pick a Venue

Hosting a baby shower means choosing the perfect place to have it. Popular venues are the hostess’s home, hall, or even a restaurant. If you do not want to have it at your house, then ask around at local restaurants or halls for booking information and pricing. If the mother-to-be has a favorite restaurant then that might be a great place to have the shower.

  1. Create a Guest List

Putting a guest list together can be a little tricky – who do you invite and who do you not? If the venue is able to hold a large amount of people then extend the invite on to as many as you feel appropriate, but use your judgement and invite however many you feel will add to the fun of the shower. Once you have created a guest list, get those invitations out in the mail as soon as possible. You can create your own invitations or buy some pre-made ones at the store.

  1. Food & Drink Prep

If you are having your baby shower at a house or private hall, buying the food and drinks is important! The perfect baby shower should have an assortment of edibles and drinks to snack on. The theme of your shower may dictate what type of food you serve, such as a royal theme having a high tea lunch or a Hawaiian theme having pineapple and a barbecue. Some general food and drinks to serve at a baby shower are mini sandwiches, macarons, cookies, cocktail sausages, cubes of cheese, tortilla chips and salsa, mini cupcakes, bruschetta, and any other finger food you can think of!

Some baby showers have full course meals where pasta, soups, and salads are served. Drinks are very important to have in abundance at baby showers, so stock up on water bottles, fruity punch, Prosecco, and other sparkling ciders for the guests. Having a big bowl of ice set out is perfect to put the drinks in to keep cool. If your baby shower is at a restaurant, then it more than likely will be catered so choose some delicious items off the menu to serve and bring your own cake!

  1. Activities

A baby shower is not complete without games. Check on the web or at a bookstore for some baby shower ideas. An example of a fun game is having all the guests cut a piece of string they think will fit around the mom-to-be’s belly, and whoever gets it to fit around the belly wins. Games are a great way to bring everyone together to have some fun. While it may not be appropriate, you may want to learn how to make margherita for your guests!

Before the guest leave, it may be nice to give them a party favor such as a spa gift bag, chocolate, gift card, or a handmade “thank-you for coming” card. The next time you find yourself planning a baby shower, refer to the ideas above to create a memorable shower for mom, baby, and all the special guests invited.
